SPM Workshop September 18, 2003 
For the second time an international audience came together at the Virchow
Klinikum in Berlin and listened to the talks covering the application
of Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) in the fields of life sciences. Seven
renowned speakers, among them the AFM co-inventor Prof. Christoph Gerber,
IBM Zurich Research Laboratory, and Prof. Daniel Müller, MPI Dresden,
gave an overview about their current results. All contributions, including
the poster presentation during the breaks, illustrated the enormous potential
and diversity of SPM in biological, biochemical and medical research.
An intensive scientific exchange emerged and fruitful discussions took
place. So, we can say we enjoyed a beautiful workshop.
